April 26, 2026Muscles in the pelvis are far and away the greatest contributors to most kinds of lower back pain. While said pain is a near universal experience for adults, it seems that that connection is not always well understood. As a lifelong sufferer of literally crippling back pain, much of the advice I got from doctors focused on pain management, rather than trying to correct whatever underlying problems that were the cause. I learned of the relationship almost by accident, but even armed with that knowledge, as an AMAB individual it was challenging to get help. Many of the pelvic health clinics out there are actually part of obstetrics departments, or otherwise only take female patients, so finding an office that was willing to provide help for me was such a wonderful discovery. Having been working with Karyn the last few months, I'm feeling not only less pained, but vastly more educated about my body, and properly aware of how seemingly innocuous movements or positions can cause strain converging in the hips. She has been attentive, understanding, and very proactive with ensuring comfort for all procedures. Highly, highly recommended, especially for those men who feel like they might benefit from seeing such a specialist but might be anxious or otherwise uncertain. It's worth it. Please go!
